Not on that style of board Care to develop your argument a bit more? The vanguard is a totally different shape to a traditional surfboard, both in outline and bottom contour Wider through to the nose And wider through to the tail Quite parallel rails in fact The “chopped off nose ” look works well as it reduces swing weight. And with the more traditional shape the last few inches of nose are most of the time not effectual.
Hence the vanguard is suited to smaller to medium waves The extra width through the tail of the board also helps as this is where a lot of weight gets transferred. Again great in small to medium waves but in larger waves where big railed bottom turns at speed are required you would want a thinner pin type tail. The tail width of the vanguard at speed can cause it to slide out. In a nutshell the planning surface area of a 5″2. Vanguard is considerably more than a 5’2 in the traditional shape.

It’s frustrating, I’d love the R16 but I’m using my current desk to do live fader and aux moves so no point upgrading to a mixer with multiple digital outs if it doesn’t capture that.
Well that would be ideal but a bit out of reach at the moment! I’ve got a 16 channel Tascam mixer at the moment and I just record the mix bus as a two track live to Pro Tools. It would be great to be able to record tracks separately for finer editing and mixing control, but not much help if I lose all my fader and aux moves as that’s where a good part of my arrangement and composition stems from. It’s not analog volume control but it would be a way to run analog into your daw and perform a mix with faders.
You could always then leave the daw faders where they are and re-sum through the board in analog if tjat’s your objective. The Fat Channel makes dynamics, routing, and panning for every input and output on the StudioLive available at the touch of a Select button. The 16 multipurpose knobs and meters located in the Fat Channel control nearly every adjustment you will need to make on your StudioLive. There is a Select button on each of the 16 inputs, each of the 6 analog aux sends, both of the internal effects buses, each of the 4 subgroups, the two auxiliary inputs, and last, but certainly not least, the main output bus.
The rotary encoders work in conjunction with the meters directly above them to adjust the dynamics processing and EQ. This encoder sets, and the meter displays, the gate thresh old for the selected channel. The threshold deter- mines the level at which the gate will open.
