After playing the first mission, which took us to the new destination I had the opportunity to rush through the hour campaign where core components like shooting, and leveling feel as good as they always do. Getting to see each of the new areas was interesting each time, as I was never quite sure what the garden would throw at me. They gave you enough motivation to face off against these new foes while still challenging you with some enjoyable new settings. What it does get right are the encounters. In addition, the team who built the levels has yet again done a fantastic job building gorgeous worlds that were a pleasure to see for the first time in a Destiny game. Overall, Osiris left me feeling like the campaign was hollow. During a roundtable session with the development team, the invited media wanted to know more about the long-term plan of Osiris. ‘Destiny 2’ plays matchmaker so you aren’t stuck with weirdos
Two teams of three face off against each other in small arena battles. The first team to be wiped out loses the round, and five victorious rounds wins the match. Matches are short, tense and extremely tactical. How to survive in Destiny’s tough new ‘Prison of Elders’ mode There’s more, too. In the sequel to Bungie’s popular shared-world shooter, the Guardians of Earth have finally met their match with a new villain who’s got his eyes on The Traveler. Our heroes, with their powers stripped away and all their gear destroyed, are pushed back to square one and have to relearn what it means to be a true Guardian of the Light. Though it’s sad to see our valuable Exotics fade into the ether, this turns out to be a blessing, as the next adventure for our characters will bring new challenges, new rewards, and an even greater feeling of satisfaction when succeeding in the next big battle.
Though the general grind in Destiny 2 is the same as in the previous game, there are a number of major differences. During our extensive hands-on time before the launch of the game, we saw the many tweaks and additions coming to the game’s core pillars, and how different it’ll be compared to the years spent in the original Destiny. Let’s take a look at five of the biggest changes in Destiny 2. A More Directed and Focused Story In Destiny 1 , the story focused on re-establishing the influence of the Guardians, while battling the different enemy factions and dealing with the looming presence of the enigmatic force known as The Darkness.
While its narrative was undoubtedly built on a universe with a vast history that had a lot of thought put into it, the story often struggled with conveying those ideas, opting for a more fragmented and episodic take to telling its story. With the sequel, Bungie has gone with a traditional approach for a more consistent narrative–gradually fleshing out its key characters and locales, and giving them the moments they deserve.
Unlike the first game, which struggled to fully convey what role The Darkness played in the broader story–the warlord behind the Red Legion is a tangible character with story beats revealing why he came to Earth to find the Traveler, and what his plans are with its power. If you’re a returning Guardian, the story will essentially pick up where you left off after Rise of Iron–assuming you already know who is who, and what you’re fighting for. For the new Guardians, you’ll gradually be introduced to the enemy factions and allies with slightly altered dialog and scenes to accommodate first timers to the Destiny fiction.
In addition to a more well-rounded and developed campaign, finishing the main story will open up Destiny 2’s broader end-game content, which the developers claim is where the story and many of its plot setups will pay off.
How Destiny Players Fixed One Of The Game’s Biggest Problems
Comments Recently, the gaming community has been rocked with debate after debate about loot boxes and other in-game DLC that publishers use to generate extra revenue after a game has been purchased. Some call it extortion, others call it catering to consumers and giving them options. Either way, it’s a big deal and has almost certainly dampened some of the hype for a number of major AAA releases. With that in mind, you’d think Activision, the publisher behind Call of Duty: WWII and Destiny 2 , would want to keep its head down.

First of all to address the reason why people get so upset whenever you mention matchmaking wouldn’t work – and I can only speculate – but I imagine it’s for the same reason why whenever you mention matchmaking people are quick to list out a laundry list of reasons why it wouldn’t work. It’s just a matter of opinion that you wish to uphold. I agree with a lot of what both of you have said.
Raids do require a degree of coordination and team camaraderie. At the same time these roadblocks aren’t as insurmountable as you might think. When I say they should have matchmaking and it would work I don’t mean “matchmaking” in the classic styling of games like Halo or Call of Duty.

There just aren’t any good arguments for removing matchmaking, they invariably boil down to some crude level of “fuck you, got mine” I look forward to someone posting about progression content here at some point , or fears about the content being nerfed why nerf it when they can set up a spectrum of difficulty levels from filthy matchmaking casual to anointed mlg son?
And here’s where you reveal the fact that you’re making a lot of assumptions about everyone who is against random matchmaking. There is no “fuck you, got mine” involved in this particular discussion. This isn’t a legitimate gating off of content.

Similarly, don’t worry about classes too much. While certain classes and their abilities can be useful – the Hunter void class can go invisible or tether enemies for damage phases, for example – as with previous Raids on Normal mode there isn’t much that depends on a specific class or sub-class. Destiny 2 was already a mess some months ago that I started playing and with this changes Bungie are getting into a bigger mess with their game, and this new gambit thing after seeing what it is.
Comments Shares Bungie pulled back the solar-resistant curtain on Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris in its first DLC livestream today, revealing semi-infinite spaces to fight, the future of Raids, and the return of one sorely missed playlist. There was a lot of stuff to take in from the hour-plus livestream which I’ve embedded below , so I’ve also written up the highlights. Mercury and the Infinite Forest Curse of Osiris will add two big, all-new areas to the game: Topside, players will be able to explore Mercury’s Plains of Glass.
The region surrounding the Lighthouse has become a staging area for Red Legion troops who fled The Almighty – which is ironic, given that The Almighty was tearing Mercury apart for fuel before you disabled it in the campaign.
Bungie is sort of doing something about Destiny raid LFG
October 6, Destiny’s raids are the most challenging parts of the hit game, requiring six players level 26 or above to team up for a lengthy test of endurance. As it stands the game’s only raid so far, Vault of Glass, requires six players who know each other — rather than matching up strangers through the matchmaking system used in other areas of the game.
Looking for a chill group to go into the raid with just looking to get some progress into it. I have 2 so far. pm me if you want in. It is our first run.
